Also, while this email forwarding service through Email Archive has been fully restored since April 27, this forwarding service bears an inherent limitation, whereby it is not ideal if you want all participants in your course or project site to receive your message. Through the Preferences tool, all Sakai users can opt out of email messages forwarded through the Email Archive tool. On Friday, April 13, the default view of the Email Archive tool in Sakai had been revised to present the warning about this limitation and to propose alternatives like the Announcements tool and Mailtool for sending emails that all site participants will receive.
*** UPDATE *** April 27, 9:53am - The disruption of the email forwarding service for emails sent to email addresses of the form {{some_site_account}}@sakai.plu.edu has been resolved. Next week, an update will be posted with more details about the root causes of this service disruption.
*** UPDATE *** April 24, 10:39am - The disruption of the email forwarding service for emails sent to email addresses of the form {{some_site_account}}@sakai.plu.edu is still in effect. However, I&TS staff have identified that this particular service has not been working since Thursday, March 29, 6:00am. I&TS support staff are continuing to work toward restoring this service as soon as possible. Instructors and project site maintainers are encouraged to make use of the Sakai Mailtool or the Sakai Announcements tool instead for sending emails to students and other Sakai site members.
*** UPDATE *** April 11, 1:20pm - Another Sakai-related email disruption that might be related to Friday’s power outage has been identified. Currently, email messages sent to addresses of the form, {{some_site_account}}@sakai.plu.edu are not being routed to members of the corresponding site. I&TS staff are currently investigating this service disruption and working toward a resolution as soon as possible. In the meantime, instructors and project site maintainers can make use of the Sakai Mailtool, the Sakai Announcements tool, or PLU Gmail to send email messages.
*** UPDATE *** April 8, 3:06pm PT - The service disruption for outgoing email is resolved. This disruption is estimated to have occurred between the event of the power outage on Friday afternoon and approximately 2:00pm on Sunday, April 8. This disruption affected various PLU systems such as Sakai, the PLU HelpDesk, and others but not including PLU Gmail and other Google services. While the outgoing email service has been restored, the Sakai Support Team has observed that email sent from Sakai during this interval might not have actually been sent. Therefore, Sakai users might need to resend any important messages sent during that period. We apologize for the inconvenience. If you have questions or concerns please email sakai@plu.edu.
