[RESOLVED] Off campus access to EBSCO databases unavailable

WHAT: Off campus access to EBSCO databases unavailable

WHEN: 10/19/22  

Current Status: Resolved

Description: Attempting to sign in to EBSCO databases from off campus returns the following error: "We are unable to validate your login credentials. Please contact your institution for assistance. Please note, Referring URL authentication may have been prevented by antivirus or privacy control software. [Authentication Error Code 103]" We are attempting to address the problem.

Workarounds: If you know the article you are trying to access, please e-mail details to ill@plu.edu.

Root Cause / Continuous Improvement: A setting for signing into EBSCO needed to be adjusted, and the problem seems to be resolved. If you encounter this error, please e-mail details to williagr@plu.edu.

WHAT: [RESOLVED] Proxied access to UpToDate not working

WHEN: 10/10/22  

Current Status: Resolved

Description: Attempting to log in to UpToDate through the library website link redirects the user to a specific account, and they are informed the account is expired.

Service(s) Impacted: Library

Workarounds: Logging in directly via uptodate.com, using the credentials created on that site, should work. Unfortunately new accounts cannot be created this way.

Estimated Time to Resolution or Next Update: This issue has now been resolved and users should be able to re-authorize and log in with their ePasses using the library link.

Root Cause / Continuous Improvement: An authentication setting needed to be adjusted following a server upgrade.

Description: Attempting to access library databases returns an error message.

Service(s) Impacted: Library

Workarounds: If on campus, you can enter the database web address without the "https://ezproxy.plu.edu/login?url=" at the beginning.

Estimated Time to Resolution or Next Update: Unknown.

Root Cause / Continuous Improvement: We have addressed the most immediate issue and access is working for the moment. We are continuing work to stabilize the server and the error may recur.

Description: I&TS will be performing emergency maintenance on our campus firewalls.  During this period a brief Internet service disruption will result in loss of Internet access from the campus network and loss of connectivity to campus from off-campus locations.
