PLU Help Desk Web Service Unavailable for Transition - Fri., Oct. 23

*** UPDATE *** Friday, Oct. 23, 2:19pm - I&TS staff have completed the planned web service transition for PLU Help Desk (helpdesk.plu.edu). This service is online and ready to use.

*** UPDATE *** Friday, Oct. 23, 8:00am - I&TS staff have initiated the planned web service transition for PLU Help Desk (helpdesk.plu.edu). This service will become available by 5:00pm if not before. 

WHAT:
  PLU Help Desk Web Service Unavailable for Transition

WHEN:  10/23/20  Duration:  8:00am - 5:00pm (US Pacific)

Description:  On Friday, October 23, 2020, Information and Technology Services (I&TS) will be transitioning the PLU Help Desk (helpdesk.plu.edu) to a new online request and issue tracking system. I&TS staff will begin this transition at 8:00am (US Pacific), at which point no online ticketing service will be available. During this transition period, you will still be able to submit help requests either by email at helpdesk@plu.edu or by calling the Help Desk directly at 253-535-7525. The web service transition is estimated to be completed by 5:00pm with the new service accessible online at helpdesk.plu.edu. When the transition is complete, I&TS staff will post an update to this notice.

WHAT:

WHEN:  10/16/20  Duration:  6:00am - 7:00am (US Pacific Time)

Description:  On Friday, October 16, 2020, system maintenance will be performed from 6:00am to 7:00am (US Pacific Time) on servers that host Sakai (sakai.plu.edu) and PLU Search & Directory (search.plu.edu). Consequently, these web services will be disrupted during this interval. However, maintenance might be completed in much less time. An update to this notice will be posted once the maintenance is complete.

Internet Service Provider Outage - Thurs., Oct. 15, 02:00AM-06:00AM

WHAT: PLU Internet Service Provider Maintenance

WHEN: 10/15/20  Duration: Periodic between 2-5AM

WHERE: Internet service in and out of campus

Current Status: Complete

Description: One of PLU's Internet Service Providers will be performing maintenance on some of their equipment that supports one of our internet connections.  This work is scheduled between 2:00AM and 6:00AM Thursday morning, October 15th.

PLU has multiple ISP connections and has designed our connectivity to utilize all links whenever possible.  During this maintenance, our Internet service will be switched to our secondary ISP for all traffic. However, during the transition periods users may experience disruption to their connections.

Service(s) Impacted: Campus Internet Service

Workarounds: Secondary ISP should handle most of our Internet service needs.

Next Update:  Following completion of maintenance and confirmation from our ISP.
