*UPDATE* Network Maintenance and Service Disruption

WHAT: Extended service disruption impacting access to some remaining campus resources due to complications during planned maintenance.


WHEN: Beginning 6/5/21 Duration: Ongoing


UPDATE: As of the morning of Monday June 7th, most remaining services have been restored. There are a few remaining services that have not been brought back up and I&TS staff will continue to work to bring these services back online when possible. If you are still experiencing problems gaining access to a PLU resource, please contact the I&TS Help Desk by entering in a request into our ticketing system at helpdesk.plu.edu.


Past Updates:

*11:59pm, June 6 Update*

I&TS staff wrapped up for the tonight after completing restoration of critical services (Banner, Sakai, file servers, etc.). While the majority of services should be fully functional, there are a few systems that require additional attention on Monday to restore 100% functionality. If you encounter an issue with any services please contact the Help Desk at 253-535-7525, https://helpdesk.plu.edu or helpdesk@plu.edu


*7:00pm, June 6 Update*

The I&TS staff continues to work on restoring critical services that were unexpectedly disrupted during yesterday's planned maintenance. The team will continue to work throughout the evening to restore as many critical services as possible before Monday morning. Primary focus will be on restoring Sakai and Banner prior to the beginning of the work day.


*10:00pm Update*

We have encountered a critical error with our update process that is forcing us to shutdown a number additional services in order to complete the process and associated repairs. Every effort to restore services as soon as possible is being made.

*2:30pm Update*

Some of the update processes are taking notably longer than expected. At this time we expect Banner and Sakai will still go offline about 3:00pm, but they will be returned to service sometime after 6:00pm. If there are any other significant changes to the plan we will post updates here.


*Original Post*

On Saturday, June 5th, Information and Technology Services will be performing planned maintenance on several pieces of core networking equipment on campus.  In order to perform this work, servers for both Banner and Sakai will need to be shut down, making Banner and Sakai unavailable between 3:00pm and 6:00pm on June 5th.  In addition, access to Netstor and Banserve3 file servers will be down for the day and VPN connected users and on-campus devices may lose access to some PLU resources intermittently while maintenance is being performed.  Status updates will be posted as work is completed to provide additional information when available.
