***Resolved*** ePass Password Syncing Problems with Gmail

WHAT: New account and password synchronization issue with Google

WHEN: 03/10/2015

Current Status: Open

Description:
Resolution: Google has resolved the issue and the syncing should be working once more. If you continue to have difficulty setting up gmail on your phone, please stop by the Help Desk, located on the first floor of the Library, or call 253-535-7525.

Original issue: Our Systems Team was notified by Google this morning of an issue which is affecting the synchronization of new passwords and accounts. In brief, users will experience problems using their ePass password in the following two scenarios:
  • Newly Made PLU Gmail accounts
  • Syncing gmail accounts using email applications on phones (e.g., mail.app on iOS, Gmail App on Android, etc)
This does not affect users attempting to access Gmail through a web-browser by going to mail.g.plu.edu.

Service(s) Impacted: Gmail

Workarounds: There are no workarounds at this time

Estimated Time to Resolution or Next Update: 3 pm

Root Cause / Continuous Improvement: A issue identified by Google is causing the synchronization problems. Google is actively working to resolve the issue.
